Getting to the Start
The easiest and best way to get to City2Bay 10km Run is by train to Southern Cross Station. Make sure you leave enough time to walk from the station (approx. 5-7 minutes) and organise your baggage storage. Most tram services do not operate early enough on Sunday morning to get you to the start line in time. Alternatively, if you are driving to the start, there is plenty of parking available under Etihad Stadium.
St Kilda is serviced by trams for those participating in the 5km or 1.5km events. However, please be aware that tram services on Sunday start later than during the week and it may not be possible to get to the start on time. For those driving, there is plenty of parking around Luna Park and at the Sea Baths.
Riding your bike might also be a pleasant alternative, bike parking will be available if you choose this option.
The traffic and transport section will give more specific parking information closer to event day.
Transport
Free Bus Shuttle from St Kilda?
We are pleased to announce the provision of limited free seats on shuttle buses leaving St Kilda Sea Baths back to Docklands from 10.00am to 11.00am on a first come first served basis.
Conversely you might like a gentle warm-down run back to the city or perhaps you could stay a while in St Kilda and enjoy the beach or check out the Sunday market, then catch a leisurely tram back later in the day.
Tight Train Times?
Our research tells us that most trains arrive at Southern Cross Station between 7.50am and 8.10am, so time will be tight for dropping off your bags, making a toilet stop then getting to the start line.
Park and Run?
If you decide to drive to Docklands, Etihad Stadium has a $9.00 weekend 24-hour parking rate. You can pay by credit card or cash.
Finish Locations
All three runs finish at South Beach Reserve, St Kilda.
Baggage
Baggage check-in for 10km participants is located at the Etihad Stadium check-in centre, Upper Concourse, Corner Latrobe Street and Harbour Esplanade. Trucks will transport all bags dropped off at Etihad Stadium to the finish venue at South Beach Reserve, St Kilda.
All 5km and 1.5km participants will have use of a baggage storage facility at the St Kilda venue.
A baggage tag will be supplied attached to your race number. Detach this tag on race day and loop it through your backpack securely so that you can identify it easily for collection.
We take all care but no responsibility for lost or stolen baggage items. If you have something valuable, please carry it with you or better still, leave it at home.
